A police car rammed and overturned a van Tuesday to end a dramatic 20-mile chase from Ontario to Whittier, and moments later officers arrested three men. Ivan Ochoa, 20, of Colton and Robert Arellano, 23, of Rialto, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. George Saldivar Jr., 19, of Colton, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto and evading arrest, Ontario Police Cpl. Linda Johnson said.

A parolee shot and killed a woman and her adult son Saturday morning before kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and eventually killing himself, authorities said. Joey Demello, 25, killed the 48-year-old woman and her 21-year-old son in their home in the 2700 block of East Chaparral Street, according to a news release from the Ontario Police Department. Officers found the two victims about 5:25 a.m., police said. Their identities had not been released. Demello then kidnapped his former girlfriend, Ashlee Saldana, who had been dating the 21-year-old, said a department spokesman.

Police arrested 187 people gathered at an illegal street racing site in an industrial area near Ontario International Airport early Sunday, authorities said. Among those arrested were two drivers and a "flagger," who signals the start of the race, police said. They were booked on misdemeanor charges, given citations and released, said Sgt. David McBride of the Ontario Police Department. Authorities also picked up 184 spectators who were lining the streets to watch the race. They were given citations for watching the illegal activity.

Police broke up a large cockfighting and gambling operation at a local dairy over the weekend, detaining 30 spectators and ordering 40 injured fighting roosters to be destroyed. Immigration and Naturalization Service agents deported 12 of the 30 spectators, who had paid $20 apiece to watch the roosters fight inside a tarp-covered, 2,000-square-foot arena that included two blackjack tables and food and drink distribution, according to a spokesman for the Ontario Police Department.

The Police Department announced today the appointment of four new officers: Alfred Falche, Irene Jung, Joseph Mayo and Chris Wood, who were sworn in last month. Falche earned a bachelor's degree in political science from USC in 1993 before graduating from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Academy in 1996. His background includes working more than two years with the University of Southern California campus police and working with the Tulare County Sheriff's Department.

Police were searching Saturday for a Mira Loma man who allegedly shot and wounded a California Highway Patrol officer during a traffic stop Friday on Interstate 15 in Ontario. Jaime Zavala Garcia, 37, is suspected of shooting the officer in the leg and pelvic area while he was writing a speeding ticket on the freeway shoulder, said a spokesman for the Ontario Police Department, which is handling the investigation.

The connection to a high-ranking police officer, whose name had been redacted from an official report made public about the incident, is fueling further controversy about the death of Irvin Landrum Jr., 18, who was shot three times during a traffic stop in January.

Ontario police, along with a host of other federal and state agencies, raided the Associated Immune Testing Center on Thursday and arrested its owner, Earl Myer Rice, 48.
