Free and confidential testing for the virus that causes AIDS will be offered for the first time in South County starting in early December, the county's Health Care Agency announced this week. Testing for the human immunodeficiency virus and counseling with the return of the test results will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays at the new county public health clinic at 27512 Calle Arroyo in San Juan Capistrano.

South County residents can get flu shots at two locations this month. The public can take advantage of a flu shot clinic sponsored by the Visiting Nurses Assn. this weekend at Sav-On Drugs, 23042 Alicia Parkway, Mission Viejo. The $10 shots will be administered to those 13 and older from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Minors will need parental consent. The program accepts Medicare for senior citizens.
