It's final exam time for Orange Lutheran quarterback Luke Langdon, a senior who has been under the radar among the many talented quarterbacks in the Trinity League. Next up is a showdown game on Friday night against top-ranked Bellflower St. John Bosco (6-0) at St. John Bosco. Langdon has quietly helped the Lancers to a 6-0 start. “He's been in the system for a year and a half,” second-year Coach Chuck Petersen said. “He's doing exactly what we ask him to do and doing it at a high level.” The Orange Lutheran quarterback has to make judgment calls on option plays.

There were strange happenings Monday on a baseball field in Orange County. First, there was a downpour that left the Placentia El Dorado High diamond full of puddles. Then came the most awkward of moments: high school players trying to figure out how to apply pine tar to their wood bats. "We're hoping it comes with umpire pregame instructions," Valencia West Ranch Coach Casey Burrill said. Orange Lutheran pitcher Andrew Thurman was bubbling with excitement before his team's game against West Ranch.
