Pacific Gulf Properties Inc. said Monday it has bought a 168,000-square-foot distribution plant in Garden Grove for $9 million. The property was purchased from Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. Pacific Gulf, a real estate investment trust, now owns about 2.2 million square feet in Orange County and a total of 12.1 million square feet of industrial properties.

Pacific Gulf Properties Inc. said Tuesday it has acquired two industrial business parks on 17.5 acres in Santa Ana for a total of $14.6 million. Both parks, Harbor and Harbor Warner Business Centers, are 90% occupied. The purchases increase the real estate investment trust's industrial portfolio to 25 properties containing more than 5.4 million square feet, Pacific Gulf said.

Stewart Bowie has been elected to the board of directors of Pacific Gulf Properties Inc., a real estate investment trust in Newport Beach. He will also serve on Pacific Gulf's executive committee. Bowie has been in the real estate business for more than 35 years, holding several executive positions. He also owned and operated a real estate investment brokerage and a construction contracting business.

Pacific Gulf Properties Inc. said Tuesday that it has acquired a 10-building industrial portfolio in the Northern California community of Hayward for $18.5 million. The buildings, which contain about 501,000 square feet of leasable space, were bought from Eden Plaza Associates. The buildings are next to existing Pacific Gulf property, said the company, a real estate investment trust.
