A recent study by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development laid out the stark facts. Los Angeles rents have increased, after adjusting for inflation, by nearly 30% over the last 20 years. During the same period, renter incomes have decreased by 6%. One important part of the problem is an inadequate supply of affordable rental units. Only 37 units are available and affordable for every 100 would-be renters living at the average renter income level.

Tyler Perry's sitcom "For Better or Worse" is moving from TBS to OWN this fall. The move extends the growing relationship between the actor/director and OWN, the cable channel owned by Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications. Perry signed a deal to create two new sitcoms for OWN last year. " 'For Better or Worse' is a great addition to our growing lineup of scripted programming from Tyler," said OWN President Erik Logan in a statement. The move of "For Better or Worse" from TBS to OWN officially ends Perry's long-standing relationship with the Time Warner subsidiary.

Parking tickets are a big deal in Los Angeles. For years, the city has been jacking up fines, which slams many low-income renters and young people who live in tightly packed neighborhoods where they have to fight over street parking.
