Former Navajo tribal leader Peter MacDonald, his son and a business associate were indicted by a federal grand jury in Phoenix in an alleged scheme to siphon a $2.3-million economic development loan from the tribe. MacDonald, 62, already faces a sentence of 7 1/2 years in jail for bribery, fraud and ethics violations over the tribe's purchase of a ranch in northern Arizona in July, 1987. In the latest indictment, MacDonald, his son Peter (Rocky) MacDonald Jr.
