The rookies got some playing time, and that's all that really mattered to them and to the Lakers. Neither rookie stood out against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at The Palace in Auburn Hills. But forwards Derrick Caracter and Devin Ebanks did just enough against the Pistons to earn a measure of praise from the man they most have to impress. CHICAGO ? Derrick Rose matched a career high with 39 points and the Chicago Bulls outscored the Detroit Pistons by 25 points in the fourth quarter for a 101-91 victory Saturday night. Chicago trailed by 21 early in the third quarter and was still down 86-73 about three minutes into the fourth when it went on a 19-2 run to pull out a dramatic win in the home opener. The Bulls outscored the Piston 34-9 in the final 12 minutes. Rose was serenaded by "MVP! MVP!" chants down the stretch, and he certainly played like one, scoring eight in the final period.

Tracy McGrady is getting a chance to rejuvenate his career with a team hoping for a rebound of its own. McGrady and the Detroit Pistons have agreed to a $1.3-million, one-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told the Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been announced. McGrady, a seven-time All-Star and two-time scoring champion, has played just 65 games the last two seasons with Houston and New York because he had major surgery on his left knee in the middle of the 2008-09 season.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New Jersey Nets eliminated any chance of finishing with the worst record in NBA history, beating the Detroit Pistons, 118-110, on Friday night. Brook Lopez had a career-high 37 points and Yi Jianlian had a career-best 31 to lead the Nets to their ninth win. For the first time this season, the Nets have won two consecutive games. Even if New Jersey (9-63) loses its final 10 games, it can do no worse than tie the league mark for the worst record (9-73)

The Pistons have dropped lost three straight and eight of 10. at Indiana 99, Charlotte 94: Danny Granger scored 26 points to help the Pacers deny the Bobcats a franchise-record seventh consecutive victory. Indiana had lost 14 of its previous 17 games. San Antonio 88, at Miami 76: Manu Ginobili scored 22 points, George Hill had 16 and the surging Spurs won despite wasting most of a 25-point, third-quarter lead.

Rodney Stuckey did not play for Detroit, two days after collapsing on the bench during as loss in Cleveland. Pistons Coach John Kuester said Stuckey was still undergoing tests and the team expected to know more about his status within 48 hours. Oklahoma City 108, at Sacramento 102: Kevin Durant had 27 points and eight rebounds and the Thunder won for the seventh time in its last nine road games.

It's beginning to look that way, with the early returns on a pair of trade-deadline deals continuing to exceed expectations Wednesday night at Staples Center. A Clippers team that had a playing-out-the-string feel just a week ago rallied from a nine-point third-quarter deficit to defeat the Detroit Pistons, 97-91, for its third consecutive victory.
