Townspeople lined the black-draped Main Street in Colebrook, N.H., as nearly 2,000 police officers from around the nation gathered for the funeral of two state troopers killed in a gunman's rampage. The long police procession was led by 50 motorcycle officers from around the region and color guards from as far away as Pennsylvania. State Troopers Leslie Lord and Scott Phillips were killed Tuesday before the gunman also killed part-time judge Vickie Bunnell and newspaper editor Dennis Joos.

Hours after returning from a funeral for state troopers killed in last week's rampage by a gunman, a rookie police officer was killed in a shootout Sunday. Two suspects were arrested after a lengthy highway pursuit and a gun battle with another officer. Officer Jeremy Charron, 24, was shot shortly before 5 a.m., after he stopped a car along a rural road in Epsom, a town of about 3,700 people where he was one of four full-time officers. The suspects were identified as Gordon E.

Hundreds of police and firefighters from around the United States and Canada lined up under cloudy skies Friday, their badges covered with black bands, to file by the caskets of New Hampshire state Troopers Leslie Lord and Scott Phillips. A couple of blocks away, a polished black granite monument was placed at the site where a newspaper editor and a part-time judge were killed in the same shooting rampage that claimed the troopers.
