Premiere magazine, one of the first entertainment news magazines to cover the inner workings of Hollywood, will fold. On Monday, Jack Kliger, chief executive of publisher Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., announced that the April issue of the Los Angeles-based magazine would be the last print edition. Hachette plans to provide daily Hollywood news, interviews and access to video trailers through Premiere.com and Premiere Mobile.

Premiere magazine Editor in Chief Susan Lyne has been hired as a top executive at Walt Disney Co.'s Motion Pictures Group, where she will acquire and develop material for films. Lyne, who will be based in New York, plans to buy books, screenplays and stage plays for Disney. Her formal title in the newly created job will be executive vice president in charge of acquisition and development of intellectual material and new opportunities.

No one would ever accuse the Church of Scientology of not being vigilant about its press coverage, especially when it comes to its famous Hollywood members. One of the latest cases in point was the 2,000-word response in Premiere magazine after a recent story about Scientology's ties to the entertainment industry. This was followed by the publication of a 16-page booklet dubbed "Premiere Propaganda." "Premiere's reporter was not interested in writing a fair story on the church.
