Amy Adams arrives at the Beverly Hills Hotel's patio doing what she calls her "zombie limp," the result of a broken pinky toe. Her hair is up, her guard is down and she's showing off an adorable photo of her 2-year-old daughter, Aviana, dressed up as a purple butterfly for her first Halloween. It's a deceptively relaxed moment. In the last 18 months, Adams, 38, has worked with Paul Thomas Anderson ("The Master"), Clint Eastwood ("Trouble With the Curve") and Spike Jonze (the upcoming sci-fi romance "Her")

Lady Gaga has paid tribute to her friend and frequent collaborator Terry Richardson in light of his mother's recent death. Richardson, a photographer who captures Gaga behind the scenes so often that the pair released a coffee table book of candid images, announced Tuesday that his mother, Annie Lomax, had passed away. Gaga showed support using a favorite medium: her hair. "I did it for u Terry," Gaga wrote in a post to LittleMonsters.com, including a photo, above, of her head shaved in the back to resemble Richardson's hairline.

TRAVEL

I was extremely disappointed in your answer to Marcia Glinsky's letter ["Bum Voyage," On the Spot, Jan. 20]. Glinsky used a travel agent who was working with Princess. Why did Princess and her travel agent book her into this situation? Where was the professionalism? Princess owes her a refund, not a credit, and her travel agent has some liability too. She placed her travel plans in supposedly professional hands and they failed her. Robert D. Thomas Los Angeles

Re "Resist the princesses," Opinion, March 27 Thank you for shining some light on the insidious infection of the Disney princess. Normally, because of my own "princess" mentality, I graciously accept gifts from friends, family and neighbors celebrating Cinderella and her clones and then try to hide them before my almost 3-year-old daughter can get her sticky little fingers on them. But the other day I spoke up. My daughter and her female cousins received a gift from grandma in a Cinderella gift bag while her male cousins got Winnie the Pooh.

Nice article on alt-comedy. ("The Comedy Pipeline," Aug. 30) Alt to what? Being funny? Alt-comedy princess Sarah Silverman? Somewhere there is a 7-Eleven missing a good clerk. A.J. Kallungi Kernville, Calif.

Several readers called or wrote last week in response to Art Fein's lament, "The Two-Time Princess Cake Loser" (Aug. 5), assuring us that good princess cakes are still to be found. Ingrid Madeiros of San Juan Capistrano recommends Emil Swiss Pastries in Los Angeles, Berolina Bakery in Glendale and Gelson's in Newport Beach. Lorraine Hammarlund of Sepulveda seconds Berolina. Isabelle Meyer of Glendale gets her princess cakes at Federico's in Pasadena. Emil Swiss Pastries, 1751 Ensley Ave., Los Angeles, (310)

Having been among those who in 1924 enjoyed seeing "The Thief of Bagdad" at the Biograph Theater in Chicago and who afterwards sent a dime (!) to some Hollywood address and eventually received an 8x10 print of Douglas Fairbanks Sr. from that movie, I was confused when I noted the capsuled listing in Television Times on Jan. 9 that informed us that an "audacious rogue" was "questing for a beautiful princess (Anna May Wong)." I am happy to see that the following week's issue corrected that error and Julanne Johnston was listed as the princess.
