A "From the Ashes" fund maintained by the New York Board of Rabbis has contributed $3,600 to a firebombed synagogue in Moscow. The fund was set up in 1996 to help religious institutions targeted by vandals or subjected to religious bigotry. In the fund's first year, $28,000 was given to black churches that had been burned in several states.
