Benito Narvaez, an apprentice jockey left paralyzed after a four-horse spill at Tampa Bay Downs, is suing the track for more than $2.5 million. Narvaez was riding That A Boy Girl in the sixth race on Feb. 23, 1990, when a horse fell, creating a four-horse pileup in which he was injured.

Thirteen racebooks in Nevada have filed a breach-of-contract suit against Santa Anita. The suit, filed in Nevada, says Santa Anita has not honored a multiyear contract that it signed with the Nevada Pari-Mutuel Assn. in 1995. This past season, there was a blackout of the television signal, which prohibited the the Nevada books from carrying the Santa Anita races.
