A retired Los Angeles police detective from Granada Hills and his wife died when their motor home was struck by a freight train in southwestern Idaho, authorities and relatives said Monday. Romel A. Carnevale, 61, and his wife, Anna, 45, were hit Saturday morning when they pulled out of a rest stop on U.S. 95, six miles south of Weiser, Ida., and into the path of a freight train carrying hazardous materials, according to Idaho state police. The train was traveling 66 m.p.h.
