Jonathan Karl Lundh was sentenced Wednesday, after his second trial, to life in prison for strangling an assistant college dean after she left a Burbank self-improvement seminar in 1982. The sentence gives Lundh, 45, no possibility of parole. He was convicted of murdering Patty Lynne Cohen, assistant dean of the School of Arts at Cal State Northridge. She disappeared April 27, 1982, from the garage of a Burbank motel, where she had been attending an Erhard Seminar Training meeting.

An elementary school teacher who says she is dying of cancer provided dramatic testimony Monday linking a Minnesota man to a slaying in Burbank nine years ago. Saying she had to give her testimony before her death, a trembling Rain Slook identified Jonathan Karl Lundh at a preliminary hearing in Van Nuys Municipal Court as the man she saw driving the car of a slain woman shortly after the woman had been killed.

A Van Nuys judge declared a mistrial Monday after jurors reported they were deadlocked in the case of a Minnesota man accused of raping and murdering a Cal State Northridge administrator a decade ago. Shortly after jurors said they were split 7 to 2 for conviction, with three undecided, prosecutors said they almost certainly would retry Jonathan K. Lundh, 44, in the April 27, 1982, slaying.

A retired schoolteacher on Wednesday corroborated a dead colleague's videotaped statements linking a Minnesota man to the 1982 slaying of a Cal State Northridge administrator. During the trial of Jonathan Karl Lundh, former elementary school teacher Fanny Krivit's testimony contradicted the defense's contention that police had pressured her dead colleague, whose taped testimony is the core of the prosecution case.

A defense expert sought to cast doubt Friday on the testimony of five women who have linked a Minnesota man to the 1982 slaying of a Cal State Northridge administrator. Testifying in the trial of Jonathan Karl Lundh, Dr. Alfred Coodley found fault with the testimony of all five prosecution witnesses, saying that evidence suggests that police prodded or manipulated them into identifying the defendant.

A dead woman's videotaped testimony linking a Minnesota man to the 1982 slaying of a Cal State Northridge administrator was played to a Van Nuys jury Thursday after a judge rejected defense efforts to bar it. The accusations by elementary school teacher Rain Slook, who died in January, are the core of the prosecution's case against Jonathan Karl Lundh, who contends police pressured her to identify him in order to solve a highly publicized murder.
