As atomic bombs explode across the face of the Earth, one of the few places still standing is a roadside restaurant in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico. So close is the apocalypse that the one remaining TV station is playing nothing but endless reruns of "I Love Lucy." Such is the set-up of Bruce Graham's "Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar & Grille," the current production of Ventura's Plaza Players.

A North Hollywood man who plowed his Mercedes-Benz into a crowd outside a Sunset Boulevard nightclub pleaded no contest Monday to 11 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of felony drunk driving, authorities said. Mark Adam Reaser, 26, was sentenced in Santa Monica Superior Court to a year in prison and four years probation and was ordered to pay restitution, Deputy Dist. Atty. David Wells said.

In a year filled with so many devastating losses, we weep yet again. On Saturday morning, Bianca Halstead from Betty Blowtorch died in a car crash at 5:30 a.m. in New Orleans. She'd been the passenger in an '86 Corvette that spun out of control. Rocker chicks are a rare and fierce breed, and according to those who knew her best, she was sweet as pie. Her life was celebrated Monday night at the store Serious on Melrose Avenue. Everyone who knew her is devastated.

Clubland denizens are well aware that truth is better than fiction, but this one takes the cake. Joey Buttafuoco--you know, the mechanic-turned-actor/opportunist--has a new gig. The beefy ex-Long Islander manages the upstairs bar on Fridays and Saturdays at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, which celebrated its 25th anniversary Tuesday night. Among the 600 West Hollywood revelers were Ozzy Osbourne, the Scorpions and David Lee Roth, a regular of the Sunset Strip nightclub.

A brawl that escalated into a fatal stabbing outside one of West Hollywood's most famous nightclubs remained under investigation Thursday by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department detectives. The melee started about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the House of Blues, in the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard, said sheriff's homicide Lt. Joe Hartshorne. One man died and two others were seriously injured. Coroner's officials identified the dead man as Christian Melgroza, 21.
