In a year filled with so many devastating losses, we weep yet again. On Saturday morning, Bianca Halstead from Betty Blowtorch died in a car crash at 5:30 a.m. in New Orleans. She'd been the passenger in an '86 Corvette that spun out of control. Rocker chicks are a rare and fierce breed, and according to those who knew her best, she was sweet as pie. Her life was celebrated Monday night at the store Serious on Melrose Avenue. Everyone who knew her is devastated.

Jazz is in the air in Los Feliz Marty and Elayne Roberts have been keeping toes tapping at the Dresden Lounge in Los Feliz for 22 years. The famed jazz duo celebrated this milestone on Thursday with a blowout sponsored by hipster jazz radio, the Fabulous 570. Jazz must be in the air because, just up the street, swinging sax man Sam Butera helps the nightclub ring in its 10th b-day manana. Meanwhile, that way cool P.R.

Clubland denizens are well aware that truth is better than fiction, but this one takes the cake. Joey Buttafuoco--you know, the mechanic-turned-actor/opportunist--has a new gig. The beefy ex-Long Islander manages the upstairs bar on Fridays and Saturdays at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, which celebrated its 25th anniversary Tuesday night. Among the 600 West Hollywood revelers were Ozzy Osbourne, the Scorpions and David Lee Roth, a regular of the Sunset Strip nightclub.
