NEW ORLEANS — Former UCLA and NBA stars Jamaal Wilkes and Reggie Miller were among the seven new members announced Monday for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The Class of 2012 also includes coach Don Nelson , three-time national player of the year Ralph Sampson , two-time Olympic gold medalist Katrina McClain and official Hank Nichols . Also named were the All American Red Heads, the first women's professional basketball team. The Class of 2012 will be enshrined Sept.

Washington Bullet center Ralph Sampson said Saturday night that he will leave the NBA and join a professional team in Spain. The 7-foot-4 Sampson, who joined the Bullets on Nov. 19, appeared in only 10 games. He will go on waivers Tuesday. Sampson was on the bench behind Pervis Ellison and Charles Jones. Sampson joined the Bullets after getting a buyout from his lengthy contract with the Sacramento Kings.

Ralph Sampson reports to Arco Arena every day with the same hope. "I've just been waiting," the Sacramento Kings' center said. "Every day I come in here and hope (player personnel director) Jerry Reynolds will come up to me and say, 'We traded you somewhere.' I just wish that could happen." Sampson, 30, says his desire to leave the Kings has nothing to do with ill feelings toward the team or the city of Sacramento. He just wants to play and sees little chance of that happening with the Kings.
