Ian Schrager and Rande Gerber together brought red hot and cool bars to Schrager's boutique hotels on both coasts. Now the relationship is on the rocks. Earlier this month, Schrager sent bar czar Gerber a letter of intended termination from the Skybar on the Sunset Strip, which, since its opening in late 1996, has been a watering hole for the ultra-hip, stick-thin people in black with real or tenuous ties to show biz. The setting: Guests partied al fresco Saturday at the Malibu estate of “The Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss. Even if his mega-hit reality show doesn't often result in permanent romantic success, Fleiss - who has been creating reality TV shows since the 1990s - said he and fiancée Laura Kaeppeler, Miss America 2012, expect to be wed this spring.

Melissa Etheridge has written a memoir dishing aplenty about her 12-year relationship with Julie Cypher, who left husband Lou Diamond Phillips to set up housekeeping with the rocker and later pulled an Anne Heche, announcing "I'm just not gay." Etheridge's 229-page autobiography, "The Truth Is ... My Life in Love and Music," confirms rumors that Brad Pitt and Jackson Browne were considered to father the women's two children until David Crosby volunteered to be the biological dad.

Thanks to an online auction that allowed bidding to continue long after the music had faded, the amount raised by last month's John Varvatos Stuart House fundraiser hosted by honorary co-chairs Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner has topped $950,000 -- the largest amount in the annual event's decade-long history. The tally stood at an already-impressive $830,000 the day after the March 10 charity event and raised primarily through a spirited live auction. Pepping up the atmosphere was a live performance by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

A former German model accused of trying to extort $100,000 from Cindy Crawford and her husband was taken into custody by German authorities. U.S. authorities last week charged the man after he allegedly threatened to hand over to the media a photo of the couple's then-7-year-old daughter, gagged and tied to a chair. Edis "Eddie" Kayalar walked into a police station Monday in Stuttgart, Germany. According to an FBI affidavit, Crawford and her husband, entrepreneur Rande Gerber, first got a call from Kayalar in July.

Maxim, the racy men's magazine, plans to lend its name to a more than $1.2-billion hotel casino that would open in 2010 on the Las Vegas Strip, the publisher said Monday. "It's going to be upscale, it's going to be four-star, it's going to be sexy and flirtatious, absolutely," said Barry Pincus, director of brand development for Maxim publisher Dennis Publishing Inc. "But it'll also be fun, it'll be comfortable."
