A federal grand jury indicted a Michigan man Thursday for allegedly kidnaping a Val Verde real estate agent at gunpoint while posing as a prospective home buyer and, two days later, leaving her tied up in an Arizona motel room. The two-count indictment charges Timothy Daniel Shue, 38, with kidnaping and the use of a handgun in connection with a crime of violence, said Assistant U.S. Atty. Debra Yang.

A university board that will decide basketball player Khalid Reeves' future at Arizona met for only a short time in Tucson before recessing because an attorney was ill. Reeves had been suspended for a year after being accused of rape by a female student, but was granted a hearing on appeal.

The five-member board said it found the Dean of Students' Office failed to provide clear and convincing evidence that Reeves, 18, violated the university's code of conduct. A 23-year-old student claimed Reeves had raped her in January.
