Five men convicted of kidnapping and raping women were hanged in a public square in northeastern Iran, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported. The men kidnapped their victims in a series of assaults in the Naharkhoran Forest, a popular destination for picnickers 175 miles northeast of Tehran, Judge Ali Akbar Maqsoudnia told IRNA. The men were hanged in the town of Naharkhoran. The agency did not say how long the gang had been operating, nor did it give the number of victims.
