The Gotham Club of South Gate would soon become a Denny's, and Campos would be looking for a new line of work. He was only 25 but already sick of the DJ scene anyway.

The music lineup at KCRW-FM (89.9) will undergo several changes next month. Garth Trinidad's "Chocolate City" show, currently heard weeknights from 10 to midnight, will move to Saturdays, 6 to 9 p.m. His weeknight spot will be taken over by the Raul Campos-hosted "Nocturna," now heard Saturdays from 9 p.m. to midnight. Liza Richardson's Saturday show, "The Drop," will move from 6 to 9 p.m. to the 9 p.m.-to-midnight slot.

Facing one of its toughest tests of the season, top-ranked Chatsworth High (18-0, 4-0) rallied from a two-run deficit to defeat No. 11 Van Nuys Birmingham, 5-3, Monday in a West Valley League baseball game at Chatsworth. Joe Guntz (6-0) raised his career record to 31-0 by scattering nine hits and outdueling Junior Garcia (6-1), one of two pitchers over the last two seasons to defeat Chatsworth. Jordan Sisson hit a two-run home run for the Chancellors.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of kidnaping a 19-year-old Mexican citizen in San Ysidro on Sunday afternoon and holding him for ransom, San Diego police said. Ramon Lachino of Michoacan, Mexico, was kidnaped at Calle Primera and Via de San Ysidro at 1:08 p.m., police said. The kidnapers contacted Lachino's family and demanded $300 for his return, a police spokesman said. Officers monitored the area while relatives delivered the ransom at an undisclosed site.

Miguel Gomez atoned for an error with a game-tying, two-run triple, then scored the winning run on Danny Cardenas' infield hit as Poly High defeated Birmingham, 7-6, in a City Championship first-round playoff game Friday at Poly. Gomez, the Parrots' shortstop, allowed Jose Avitia's two-out grounder to go off his glove in the sixth and Patrick Roark scored, giving the No. 11-seeded Patriots (20-11) a 5-4 lead. Raul Campos followed with a run-scoring single.

This is a challenging week for Birmingham, which is in third place in the West Valley League. The Patriots (16-8, 5-5) play at Chatsworth (19-1-1, 10-0) today and host El Camino Real (15-6, 8-2) on Thursday. By finishing third in perhaps the toughest league in the City Section, the Patriots would earn an at-large berth in the City playoffs and set the stage for future success. Taylor Wood, a USC-bound senior, shot four-under-par 68 to lead Santa Margarita to the Southern Section Southern Divisional title Monday at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills. Steve Harward shot 73 and twins Jeff and Steve Bullock had matching 74s for the Eagles, ranked No. 3 by The Times, but the real surprise was Long Beach Poly, which shot 377 and finished second. The top two teams advance to the section finals Thursday at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.

Peter Gunny had four hits, three runs batted in and three runs for Granada Hills High in a 12-2 victory over South Gate on Tuesday in pool play of the San Fernando Valley tournament at Granada Hills. The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule. Ryan Braun had three hits, including a two-run home run in the third, and scored three runs for the Highlanders (1-0).

For the second consecutive year, Van Nuys Birmingham High's baseball team has ended Chatsworth's bid for an undefeated season. Jose Carrillo's three-run double keyed a four-run fifth inning that lifted the Patriots past top-ranked Chatsworth, 5-4, Friday night in a West Valley League game at Birmingham. Junior Garcia came in with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and got Ryan Barba to fly out to end the game. Last season, Chatsworth was 23-0 until it lost to Birmingham, 5-1.
