Despite rapidly rising housing prices, a new report indicates that equity gains for homeowners in Southern California are relatively modest compared with the rest of the nation. The study found that home values rose 4% in Los Angeles County and 6.9% in Orange County in the first three months of 2000, compared with the same period last year, when the counties led the nation in housing value gains.

Re "New Mexico film industry hopes to steal the show," April 2 So New Mexico hopes to snatch away movie and television business from Los Angeles -- good. New Mexico can have the inconvenience of horrible traffic from a blocked freeway so some inane movie can be made. New Mexico can have the inflation in home prices from all the overpaid workers. New Mexico can take our celebrities with their childish, far-left politics and sophomoric need to make the world their platform. Let's bring back real industry to Southern California and lose the media that produce nothing of lasting cultural or economic value.
