The harsh, real-world reality of inter-network competition has doomed a planned awards show that would have paid tribute to the genre of so-called reality series. ABC and veteran producer Don Mischer have pulled the plug on the inaugural Reality Awards, which was to have aired next month. ABC executives said the ceremony was canceled after competing networks refused to allow Mischer access to clips from their reality shows.
