Two workers remained hospitalized Tuesday with injuries suffered in an explosion a day earlier that killed two others at a Santa Fe Springs industrial plant. Safety officials spent Tuesday investigating the blast at Reinhold Industries, a manufacturer of rocket and aircraft parts. The explosion occurred Monday afternoon while workers were installing a new type of high-pressure molding machine, Reinhold President Michael Furry said. Insurance agents were working on a damage estimate.

Two people were killed and five others were injured Monday afternoon by an explosion at a Santa Fe Springs industrial plant, officials said. Two of the injured were reported in critical condition. Killed were James Gibson, 41, of Riverside and Ross Fete. 32, of Yorba Linda. The most seriously injured were identified as Jesus Martinez, 53, of Norwalk and Soubin Chanthazongsouk, 31, of Whittier. The blast occurred at 2:39 p.m. at Reinhold Industries, 12827 E.

Furon Co. has sold its Reynolds & Taylor Inc. aerospace division in Santa Ana for an undisclosed price. The Laguna Niguel manufacturer of industrial plastics said Tuesday that it sold the 65-employee division to Reinhold Industries Inc., a Santa Fe Springs aerospace firm and a division of New York-based Keene Corp. J. Michael Hagan, Furon's chief executive, said the sale is the first of six divisions that the company has put up for sale as part of its effort to concentrate on its core business.

Furon Co., a maker of rubber and plastic parts for manufacturers, said Wednesday that it lost $22.3 million for its fiscal year ended Feb. 1, contrasted with a profit of $9.1 million the previous year. Furon had said in January that it would lose up to $25 million for the year as a result of discontinuing some products and the sale of six businesses that, as a group, were unprofitable. The costs of that restructuring resulted in a $32-million write-down before taxes.
