Tom Brady is a real nice guy. Maybe a little too nice. His kind spirit ended up costing a couple of part-time security guards at Reliant Stadium in Houston their jobs. Joel Williams told KHOU-TV that he was about to clock out following the Texans' 34-31 loss to New England on Sunday when he ran into the Patriots' star quarterback. “I said, 'Hey Tom Brady, good job, good game man.' He looked at me and smiled,” Williams said. “He was very polite, very nice guy, humble.

So much for the Astrodome's new lease on life. Voters rejected a countywide ballot measure Tuesday that would have raised more than $200 million to restore the domed stadium in Houston and turn it into a multipurpose event center. Prop. 2 failed by a vote of 53% to 47%. A major challenge for preservationists hoping to save the stadium was that there is no obvious long-term tenant for the building, even in renovated form. The Astros now play baseball in a downtown stadium called Minute Maid Park.

The Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game was rescheduled to Nov. 9 after Reliant Stadium in Houston was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike. The Texans' home opener was originally scheduled for today, then postponed to Monday night as Ike approached the Gulf Coast. The Category 2 storm moved into Houston early Saturday morning. Ike tore chunks off the stadium's retractable roof and the damage couldn't be fixed in time for the game, said Shea Guinn, the president and general manager of Reliant Park.

Matt Schaub hasn't been the most popular guy in Houston this fall. The longtime Texans quarterback's nine interceptions, including a pick-six in an NFL record four straight games, have a lot to do with that. Many fans have been clamoring for backup T.J. Yates to take his place, and some expressed their delight in a very audible manner when their wish came true during Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams -- even though Schaub was on the turf in obvious pain at the time. That's right, some knuckleheads at Reliant Stadium actually cheered when Schaub went down with an apparent injury to his right ankle early in the third quarter.

HOUSTON -- The Astrodome, once lauded as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," may soon be a landmark of the past. About 53% of voters Tuesday rejected a ballot measure that would have paid to renovate the country's first air-conditioned domed stadium.  The nostalgic value of the now rusty Dome, shuttered in 2009, may have been lost on new voters in Houston and surrounding Harris County, which adds about 10,000 residents a month and is now home...

An unidentified 25-year-old fan died after falling off a fifth-floor escalator while attending a preseason Houston Texans game Thursday at Reliant Stadium, police said. Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon said Friday he could not identify the man until his family had been informed. "He was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital after we had had some fans get the attention of some Houston police officers who were nearby where the body fell," Cannon said. Police consider the death accidental, Cannon said.
