Fish for dinner? That's guaranteed at Ithaa Undersea restaurant in the Maldives where guests dine in an acrylic-encased room 16 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean. No matter what's on your plate, reef fish surround guests in this one-of-a-kind restaurant, whicht opened in 2005 at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort. To get to Rangali, part of the South Ari Atoll, visitors take a 30-minute seaplane flight from Male, the capital of the Maldives. The country is made up of 1,190 coral islands, of which only about 200 are inhabited and 80 are tourist resorts, according to the CIA's World Factbook.

TV chef: Stefan Richter, the runner-up on Season 5 of Bravo's "Top Chef: New York," is opening his first restaurant, Stefan's at L.A. Farm, on Aug. 6 in Santa Monica. The eatery previously was L.A. Farm.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles is set to unveil a new cafe at its main Grand Avenue location this month. But the museum's food vendor for the last 15 years, Patina Restaurant Group, will not be involved. A MOCA spokeswoman said that the museum's 15-year contract with Patina has come to an end. The new eatery, called Lemonade at MOCA, will be operated by Jackson Catering. The food services company was created by chef Alan Jackson, who also runs the chain of Lemonade restaurants and cafes in the L.A. area.

California Pizza Kitchen is joining the parade of restaurants selling its fare through grocery stores. The Los Angeles-based chain with 80 restaurants in 22 states has signed a licensing agreement with Kraft Foods Inc., which will produce frozen pizzas for sale in supermarkets. The premium pizza line, including the restaurant's signature BBQ Chicken and Thai Chicken dishes, will make its debut during the fourth quarter, according to Kraft.

Fire ripped through the Red Barn restaurant on North San Gabriel Boulevard on Thursday, causing $250,000 in damage, authorities said. It took firefighters from Pasadena and Glendale 45 minutes to knock down the blaze that erupted shortly before 6 a.m. "The whole roof caved in," said Nina Scotti, a Pasadena Fire Department investigator. "The upper part of the structure is gone. There is little more than a few rooms left."

Whether or not the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station becomes an airport, the Board of Supervisors will likely ask the federal government to keep the base's commissary open for the 120,000 military personnel and retirees in Orange County. The Department of Defense has scheduled the commissary for closure, to the dismay of many veterans. Supervisors hope that their appeal will help prevent closure.

Nearly 1,700 Wendy's restaurants nationwide, including those in California, will become more accessible to disabled customers under an agreement reached with the Justice Department. Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy's International Inc. will either widen or remove barriers in its ordering lines to accommodate wheelchairs, the Justice Department said. Wendy's spokeswoman Rebecca Lusk said the alterations will be completed within the next 18 months.
