Alleging he lost $500,000 because of fraud, negligence and breach of contract, former Raider safety Rickey Dixon filed a $1.5-million suit Wednesday in Orange County Superior Court against Steve Feldman, the Newport Beach agent investigated by the NCAA last March in the recruiting of Arizona basketball star Damon Stoudamire.

It's that time of the preseason when the entrance to Raider training camp could use a revolving door. And some names should probably be written on the roster in pencil--one equipped with a large eraser. Wednesday, the Raiders released veteran defensive back Rickey Dixon for the second time this summer. Also released for the second time was rookie running back James Hill.

Four more present or former Cincinnati Bengal players have countersued a Washington woman who claims she was gang-raped by several Bengals two years ago in Seattle. Altogether, 11 of the 20 accused of rape or witnessing the rape have filed counterclaims. Safeties David Fulcher and Rickey Dixon and former cornerback Lewis Billups jointly filed their countersuit in Seattle. Former running back Ickey Woods filed a separate counterclaim.

Tulare County sheriff's authorities investigating a statewide auto theft ring found nine stolen vehicles in the San Diego area valued at $870,000, authorities said. Acting on a tip about the hideout of a suspected member of the ring, detectives went to addresses in Santee and Spring Valley searching for Rickey Dixon, 31, who has residences in both Tulare and San Diego counties. Dixon was not found, but the vehicles, including a 1973 Ferrari Daytona valued at $700,000, were recovered.

Twenty-nine college football players have been nominated for the second annual Jim Thorpe award to be presented to the best defensive back in college football on Jan. 19. The award is presented by the Jim Thorpe Club in Oklahoma. Nominations for the award are made by coaches, sports information directors, pro scouts and newsmen. A panel of national sports writers and sportscasters will select 10 finalists and a committee of formers players, coaches and media will select the winner.

Receiver Tim Brown said he received about 50 calls Tuesday from friends wanting to know if he was still wearing silver and black. Although the Raiders have denied it, Brown kept insisting that the club would trade him under the right circumstances because he will be a restricted free agent at season's end. "It didn't happen and I'm happy," Brown said. "If it would have happened, I'd have been happy."

Attorneys for a Spokane, Wash., woman on Tuesday released the names of 20 current and former Cincinnati Bengals accused in a civil lawsuit of raping her or standing by while she was assaulted nearly two years ago. The complaint says the plaintiff, identified only as Victoria C and described as a 98-pound mother of four, "was brutally and sadistically raped . . . over two hours, by 13 to 15 Bengal players who were two to three times her size, on the 'team floor' " in a hotel on Oct. 3, 1990.
