At least seven people were killed and 113 injured when Hindus and Muslims clashed in a crowded market Friday over a language dispute. Police opened fire twice after failing to stop the fighting in Bangalore with nightsticks and tear gas. Four people were killed by police gunfire and three by stabbing, said Sharad Chandra Burman, a senior police official in Karnataka state.
