More than nine months after Regis Philbin retired from the syndicated weekday talk show “Live!,” Kelly Ripa finally has a new co-host, the show announced Monday. But don't get too excited just yet: Viewers will have to wait until Sept. 4 to find out who got the coveted job. On Sept. 3, Ripa will kick off the new season of “Live!” by herself. The next day, the show will end months of frenzied speculation when Ripa's new partner finally joins her onstage. While we don't know yet who'll be sitting beside Ripa, the guests that morning will include “Homeland” actress Claire Danes and "American Idol's" Phillip Phillips.

Kelly Ripa, who's had long blond hair for the longest time, debuted a new shorter bob haircut Tuesday morning on "Live With Kelly and Michael. " "Back in the saddle........with a new cut!" Ripa tweeted in the early morning hours after the Labor Day holiday.  She joked with cohost Michael Strahan about his look compared to hers after a two-week break: "You went two weeks with no haircut, and I went two weeks with four haircuts. " Reaction from fans on Twitter was overwhelmingly positive, except for a handful of people who wondered why Ripa's hair was such big news.

Kelly Ripa finally announced her new co-host Tuesday morning - former NFL star and current analyst Michael Strahan . Of course, that was no surprise to anyone. Strahan had made numerous appearances as guest host since Regis Philbin retired back in January, and the news that the former New York Giants defensive end had been chosen as the permanent replacement leaked weeks ago. Still, that didn't stop the newly retitled program, "Live With Kelly and Michael," from playing up what Ripa called "a new era of our show.

Oprah Winfrey walked away from her daily talk show in 2011 and she ascended into the basic cable heavens. But she returned to Earth on Tuesday for a surprise appearance on "Live With Kelly and Michael" and dubbed the co-hosts, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan, talk show royalty. Ripa and Strahan were interviewing writer-director Tyler Perry, whose two new series "The Haves and the Have Nots" and "Love Thy Neighbor" premiere on Oprah's cable channel OWN on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, when Ripa referenced the last time Perry was on the show and they called and left a voicemail for Oprah.

It's 9:19 a.m. and "Live! With Kelly and Michael" is in the middle of a commercial break. Newly appointed co-host Michael Strahan, who's spent the better part of the last 20 minutes chatting with his perky on-screen partner, Kelly Ripa, is now charming the studio audience. A few seconds before Strahan is due back in his seat to interview the morning's first guest, Jimmy Fallon, a young boy - perhaps 6 or 7 - asks for his autograph. "I promise I will, but I'm in the middle of something right now," Strahan replies, breaking into his trademark gap-toothed grin.

A former defensive end for the New York Giants, Strahan has guest-hosted “Live!” numerous times and was widely considered one of the leading contenders to fill the void left by Regis Philbin, who retired last November after 28 years on the show. Since his departure, some 59 temporary co-hosts, including Alec Baldwin and Seth Meyers, have joined Ripa on the syndicated morning talk show.

Michael Strahan, the former New York Giants defensive end who's reportedly set to join Kelly Ripa as the permanent replacement for Regis Philbin on "Live!" on Sept. 4, beat out many other fill-in hosts for the gig, including Seth Meyers and Josh Groban. Strahan may hold the record for most sacks in a single season and sport a Super Bowl ring on his finger, but surely his athletic ability didn't land him in the co-host's seat. He already has regular gigs on "Fox NFL Sunday" and Spike TV's "Pros vs. Joes.

" Roberts, who took a few weeks off this summer to recharge her engines before a bone marrow transplant in early September, decided to leave after Thursday's show instead of waiting for the weekend. Kelly Ripa and Regis Philbin of "Live! With Regis and Kelly" haven't kept in touch. Philbin retired from the show in November 2011 after hosting the talker since 1988, first with Kathie Lee Gifford. Ripa replaced Gifford in 2001, and when it was announced that Philbin would also be bidding the show adieu , Ripa did test-runs with various co-host contenders before ultimately settling on former NFL star Michael Strahan in September 2012. The announcement was made to quite a bit of fanfare, since Strahan was one of 50 guest hosts who had stopped by "Live!"

Mitt Romney occasionally snores. Ann Romney hogs the covers and squeezes the toothpaste tube in the middle and leaves the cap off. And what does the GOP presidential nominee wear to bed? “I hear the best answer is as little as possible,” Romney said in an interview with ABC's “Live With Kelly and Michael” that will air Tuesday. The GOP nominee and his wife sat down with Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Friday, and showed a side rarely visible on the campaign trail, opening up about their personal lives and flashing their pop culture credentials.

On Tuesday morning, Michael Strahan was officially unveiled as the new permanent cohost of “Live!”, putting an end to the worst-kept secret in morning television. He joins Kelly Ripa on the syndicated morning talk show, filling the seat vacated late last year by long-running cohost Regis Philbin. Strahan is one of 50 guests hosts who've stopped by over the past 10 months, quickly endearing himself to fans with his self-deprecating sense of humor and chemistry with Ripa. The rumor mill has been in overdrive since early this summer, when “Saturday Night Live” star Seth Meyers and singer Josh Groban were said to be in the running for the gig. Then late last month news leaked that Strahan, a former defensive end for the New York Giants, had officially been offered the job.  Producers at Disney-ABC Domestic Television remained coy, refusing to confirm or deny the report until the planned unveiling on Sept.
