Heritage Christian's first postseason appearance in 27 years ended at the hands of Jeff Haddock, who scored seven touchdowns to lead Riverside Christian to a 62-28 victory in the second round of the eight-man playoffs Saturday at Riverside Christian. Haddock scored on runs of 11, three, 61, 23, 47, seven and 28 yards. He finished with 252 yards in 19 carries. The score was tied at the half, but Heritage Christian was outscored, 26-6, in the third quarter.

Bob Vieten, Hemet's girls' tennis coach for 21 years, retired after losing to El Dorado in the Southern Section Division III final Tuesday. The teams tied, 9-9, in matches, but El Dorado won in games, 87-74. . . . Manuel Andrade of Coachella Valley finished fifth in the Southern Section cross-country meet Saturday. It was the first time he had not won against Southern Section opponents this year. . . .

La Habra 40, Whittier Christian 14--Jon Marshall threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns, completing six of eight attempts, for visiting La Habra (1-1). After Whittier Christian (0-2) closed the gap, 7-6, the Highlanders scored 33 unanswered points to run away with the victory. Chris Lerma rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns in six carries and also caught one pass for 67 yards and a third touchdown.

Seven proved to be an unlucky number for Faith Baptist High on Saturday. That's how many touchdowns Riverside Christian fullback James Farabelli scored in the Cougars' 55-20 victory for their first Southern Section Eight-Man Large Division championship at Riverside Christian. Farabelli, who entered the game leading Riverside County with 32 rushing touchdowns, scored on the Cougars' first possession on a 46-yard run down the right sideline.

In Division IV-A: Orange Lutheran 83, Loma Linda Academy 57--Jason Whieldon led the host Lancers with 23 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Matt Erickson added 16 points, Kip Fox scored 13 and Jeff Kerns made three three-pointers. Orange Lutheran is 13-11. Loma Linda Academy finishes at 17-6. Whittier Christian 80, Sun Valley Village Christian 66--Jon Stoa scored 30 points in a wild-card victory for Whittier Christian. Josh Streeter of the Heralds scored 14 points.
