The latest in pretty meets pretty: Malin Akerman is dating actor Colin Egglesfield, according to reports out Friday.  The "Trophy Wife" star, 35, is reportedly off the market again now that she's been linked to the "Rizzoli & Isles" actor after they were photographed together in Beverly Hills earlier this month.  Us Weekly and People vouched for the romance via sources.  "They're getting to know each other," an Akerman "insider" told...

The first season of TNT's crime drama "Rizzoli & Isles" featured an episode with the title "I Kissed a Girl. " Its stars, Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, played on a softball team, shared some intimate dinners, drank wine over candlelight and hopped into the same bed for girl talk. But this is not a gay show. Series creator Janet Tamaro described Harmon's Rizzoli and Alexander's Isles as a "power couple" — the center of a buddy drama, one that broke cable ratings records in its debut run and returns for its second season July 11. But the women are not together, as in together . Tamaro chalks up the rampant are-they-or-aren't-they discussion to throwing "two gorgeous actresses together who have great, natural chemistry.

Veena Sud was tired of watching female cops in Louboutins chase down bad guys. "In cop dramas, there's a preponderance of female cops who wear stilettos, and it drives me nuts," says the television writer and showrunner, a veteran of CBS' procedural "Cold Case. " "I mean, I'm not showing up to work in a poodle skirt. " So when Sud adapted the AMC series "The Killing," which is based on the Danish hit "Forbrydelsen" and was also a smash hit in the U.K., she decided that the heroine should wear sneakers.

The Stephen King experiment begins on CBS Sunday night, an open-ended series adaptation of "Under the Dome. " The novel ran 1,100-plus pages, but still the show's creators have been given free reign in taking the story in new directions, which could be interesting. Or not -- has anyone but the most deranged fans actually read the unabridged version of "The Stand"? The pilot spends very little time establishing whatever passes for normality in the seemingly idyllic town of Chesters Mill, Pa.,  before slamming a big ol' invisible, impenetrable lid on it. Like ants trapped under a jar, the various residents and a few interesting outsiders bang against the glass a few times before accepting the event with remarkable calm, although the stage is clearly set for a "Lord of the Flies" scenario -- "Revolution" in a teacup.

Sasha Alexander had suspicions about her character from the start. But it wasn't until Maura Isles obsessed over a date's skin condition that Alexander got it: She was playing a geek. "She held his hand and said, 'You have very dry hands.' And she couldn't get it out of her head," recalls Alexander, whose Isles character is a medical examiner on TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles. " "He was so weirded out, he left dinner. That moment solidified it for me. That's when I realized she was a geek — she can't control herself around the things she knows so much about.

TNT is positioning the real-life investigative procedural "Cold Justice" as reality TV's version of "Rizzoli & Isles. " But the first and perhaps most significant thing Dick Wolf's new true-crime show does is remind us how overly groomed, politically correct and inevitably romantic most scripted crime dramas are, even the good ones, even the gritty ones. Unsolved killings have provided the hook for hours of scripted television, but none have been able to capture the pathos and squalor of a small town homicide quite like "Cold Justice" does.

"Cold Justice" -- From "Law and Order" czar Dick Wolf comes a true-crime detective procedural. Playing a bit like reality's version of "Rizzoli & Isles," "Cold Justice" follows attorney and former Texas  prosecutor Kelly Siegler and former crime scene investigator Yolanda McClary as they travel through small-town America attempting to solve cold cases. The true-crime element may be the show's immediate draw, but the show quickly becomes a stark reminder of just how dramatically groomed and often romanticized even the grittiest scripted crime dramas can be. The stories "Cold Justice" tells are not clever tales of elaborately covered-up crimes with byzantine motives involving a carefully constructed array of canny and colorful characters.
