Where you've seen him. . . . Rob Corddry may still be best known as a correspondent on "The Daily Show." Among his many other appearances: "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay," "Semi-Pro," "Blades of Glory," "W." (as Ari Fleischer). Lately, he has been writing, directing, producing and starring in the Web series "Children's Hospital": "Our show is similar to 'Grey's Anatomy'; all the sexual politics, but in a children's hospital. Don't believe the based-on-a-true-story opening disclaimer of Paul Middleditch's comedy "Rapture-Palooza. " The Apocalypse hasn't happened - yet. But mankind could do worse than being lorded over by Craig Robinson's Antichrist, a swaggering sex fiend, Vin Diesel fan and former mayoral candidate of Boise, Idaho, who dresses like the second coming of Arsenio Hall. With the plot already spoiled by the Book of Revelations, Chris Matheson's script focuses its energy on small, wickedly funny gags, half of which Robinson seems to have sputtered out as improv.

At 39, Rob Corddry is old enough to remember the 1980s. Not that he wants to. "I was a pretty sad case," says the star of "Hot Tub Time Machine." "I was very serious. All my journal entries are about who I was going to ask to dance at the dance and I would do it and then just be sad for a week. I was just a misanthrope." Even if they said yes, he'd be sad? "Yeah, because I felt like they were just humoring me," he says, laughing. A bona-fide Eagle Scout while growing up in Boston, the too-shy Corddry has since become something wild, if his performance as Lou in the raunchy new comedy is any indication.

Rob Corddry, 41, a former correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," is cresting what he calls his busiest year ever. In addition to creating and starring in the edgy Adult Swim comedy "Childrens Hospital," which has just received its first Emmy nod as it embarks on a fourth season on Aug. 9, he also appears in a flurry of upcoming films. Let's start with "Childrens Hospital. " What inspired that? I've read that you had only seen a couple of medical series when you created it. Yeah, I was a big fan of "St. Elsewhere"growing up. That's about it. I used to watch "Grey's Anatomy"over my wife's shoulder when I was on the computer.

An occasional series in which top comics tell us who's making them laugh. This week: Rob Corddry on Louis C.K. "I've been obsessed with Louis C.K.'s show, 'Louie.' I spent like 45 minutes talking about [it] in therapy two weeks ago! Because it's completely, like, no holds barred, him vomiting his darkest, most embarrassing issues. No one crystallizes my darkest, most embarrassing feelings more than Louis C.K. does. He seems way more free than I am when writing comedy, and I really aspire to that.

Since his "Daily Show" days, the funnyman has had his own sitcom (Fox's probably-not-coming-back "The Winner") and become a go-to character actor in a slew of big-screen laffers. He's currently featured in the film "The Ten," a star-studded series of vignettes inspired by the biblical commandments. Corddry, 36, talked to us about prison sex and the rigors of the fake-news biz. Is "The Ten" a takeoff of Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski's "The Decalogue"? Only it will take just 90 minutes of your time as opposed to 10 hours.
