Retired NHL defenseman Rob Ramage was charged Tuesday in the three-car crash that killed Keith Magnuson, a former player and coach of the Chicago Blackhawks. Magnuson, 56, was a passenger in the car Ramage was driving Monday night. They were returning from a funeral in suburban Toronto when their vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and struck an SUV, which was then hit by another car, police said. Magnuson died at the scene.

Mario Lemieux scored two goals to extend his goal-scoring streak to 12 games and Kevin Stevens also scored twice as the Pittsburgh Penguins rallied to defeat the expansion Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-4, Sunday night at Tampa. Lemieux, the NHL's scoring leader with 18 goals and 20 assists, got what ended up being the winning goal on a power play at 14:43 of the second period when he beat former teammate Wendell Young for a 5-3 lead.

The Montreal power play, once the best in the NHL, is now the worst with only 17 goals in 137 chances. But it was working Thursday night as Stephan Lebeau and Brian Skrudland scored power-play goals at Boston to lead the Canadiens to a 6-4 victory over the Bruins. The victory moved Montreal to within a point of the Adams Division-leading Bruins. Benoit Brunet, Eric Desjardins, Stephane Richer and Guy Carbonneau had the other goals for Montreal.

Joel Otto's goal with 2:45 left lifted the Calgary Flames into a 4-4 tie with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who ended a 6-game losing streak Monday night at Toronto. The Flames' lead in the Smythe Division was sliced to 6 points over the Kings, who beat the New York Rangers, 5-2. Al Secord scored 2 goals, and Derek Laxdal and Dave Reid had 1 each for Toronto. Maple Leaf goalie Jeff Reese, in his first National Hockey League appearance this season, stopped 36 shots.
