A robbery-murder suspect being transported to Fresno by law enforcement officers was shot Tuesday when he tried to escape near Los Angeles International Airport, police said. Tony Vong, 25, was about to board a United Express flight when he escaped the custody of Fresno police and sheriff's detectives. "The suspect climbed a fence topped with barbed wire and attempted to escape on Sepulveda Boulevard," said LAPD spokesman Eduardo Funes.
