Irene Psomos, the 19-year-old manager of a clothing store in North Hills Shopping Center, said she was "more angry than scared" when the business was robbed for the second time in four months. "I'm still too mad to talk about it," she said Friday of the June 24 robbery. "I'm just angry that it happened again here." The robbery occurred when a man walked into Susie's Deals about 12:20 p.m., pretended to have a gun and demanded the money in the cash register, police said.

A lone man robbed a bank Monday in a heist Los Angeles police said was not connected to a recent string of takeover robberies at San Fernando Valley banks. The man escaped from the Great Western Bank in the 18400 block of Ventura Boulevard about 2 p.m. with an undisclosed amount of cash, officers said. Police did not say whether he was armed. The robber is apparently not connected to two groups of bandits authorities suspect of several Valley bank holdups this year, Lt. Ray Lombardo said.

A Canoga Park man pleaded guilty Friday to 12 robberies of San Fernando Valley restaurants and supermarkets in a 13-day period last year. Edward Lee Gandy, 24, displayed a gun or faked being armed in robberies in May in Canoga Park, Reseda and Van Nuys, authorities said. "Luckily, no one received physical injuries and no shots were fired, but potential for violence was very, very great," said Deputy Dist. Atty. Michelle R. Rosenblatt.

While conceding that the defendant is not the gunman, a prosecutor nevertheless asked a jury Wednesday to convict a Pacoima man of murder in the death of a soft drink salesman who was executed during a supermarket robbery. Deputy Dist. Atty. Shellie Samuels told a Van Nuys Superior Court jury that Jose Santillan is responsible for the death of a Coca-Cola representative because he participated in a crime that led to a death.
