Television producer Robert Guzman of Oxnard has launched a half-hour cable TV magazine called "E Ticket," which premiered Sunday on Jones Intercable. The biweekly show "dares to do anything," Guzman declared. That helps explain the eclectic pieces on in-line skating, diving in Channel Islands National Park and the staging of the musical "Evita" in Santa Barbara. "If it happens in the 805 area code, we'll do it," Guzman said.

Cal State Fullerton outfielder Robert Guzman seemed to be living a charmed baseball life only two years ago. He was a regular as a freshman on the 1999 Titan team that reached the College World Series, and made two catches in Rosenblatt Stadium that became film-clip highlights. Robert Guzman had four hits and Cal State Fullerton used a six-run fourth-inning to propel it to a 15-7 nonconference victory Tuesday night at San Diego State. Jon Smith (3-0) gave up one hit in five innings with six strikeouts for the Titans (11-5). San Diego State is 9-9. In the Golden State Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament: Concordia 60, Point Loma Nazarene 39--Concordia (17-11, 9-5) jumped out a 31-14 lead at the half.

Nevada leads the Big West Conference in batting, but the Wolf Pack couldn't cope with Cal State Fullerton's Adam Johnson Friday night. Johnson pitched his second shutout of the season, giving up five hits, no walks and striking out nine as the Titans rolled to a 6-0 victory at Fullerton. It was Fullerton's seventh victory in its last eight games and gave the first-place Titans (29-15, 16-6) a two-game lead in the Big West race.

"I try to take the emotion of the crowd and use it," Guzman said. "If they're on our side, I use it that way, and if they're not, I try to turn it around. "The biggest part of it is keeping your nerves under control, but I think I've been using the crowd to help me."

The mystery surrounding last month's slayings of six Pomona residents began to unravel Thursday when police revealed that they had arrested two gang members and charged them with murder in connection with four of the shootings. For several weeks since an alleged gang rampage took the lives of apparently unconnected residents, police reported that they had no suspects, no motives and no leads.

A nine-run sixth inning put Cal State Fullerton in complete control as the Titans won their seventh in a row with a 15-1 rout of UC Santa Barbara in Big West Conference baseball Sunday. Robert Guzman knocked in the first runs of the sixth inning with a two-run double. A three-run homer by Reed Johnson and a two-run home run by Chris Beck followed in the inning. Titan Shawn Norris added two hits and four RBIs in the game.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office Sunday officially identified eight more victims of the Aug. 31 in-flight collision between an Aeromexico DC-9 and a Piper Cherokee Archer II, including seven people who were killed in the airliner, which crashed in Cerritos. This brings the total number of people officially identified to 37. Coroner's spokesman Bill Gold said more names will be released as identities are established. Victims from the airliner: Hector Cutierrez, 23, of South Gate. Joe C.
