After the last Grammy was handed out Sunday, the dash toward one of the night's countless post-show parties was immediate. It was the last night of partying till the wee hours to celebrate big wins -- or drown those losses with an open-bar cocktail. As crews worked to dissemble the many moving parts that made up the Grammy stage, hundreds  of attendees crammed the Convention Center next door for the official after-party. A very pregnant Ciara performed a lengthy set, and Boyz II Men repurposed its current Las Vegas show with a set packed with crowd-pleasing covers and hits.

Rapper Jay-Z is a mogul, and one reason he's a mogul is that he won't let you forget his supreme boss status. There he is on the Fortune 500 list. There he is watching the throne. Sold-out tours and extreme luxury, Jay-Z lives life out loud. But ruthless Grammy promotion? Not his style. As the chief executive of entertainment company Roc Nation, Jay-Z hosts the most anticipated event in celebration of this weekend's Grammy Awards: a Saturday brunch. It's an unconventional event for a music awards weekend littered with parties that celebrate record labels, production entities, artists and above all else sponsors — each late-night rager promising a laundry list of nominees and buckets of booze from whichever sponsor cuts the biggest check.

Skylar Diggins got a new car as a gift after graduating from Notre Dame this weekend. Big deal, you say? Probably lots of recent college grads got the same thing? True, but she got a Mercedes. Well, maybe some kids with rich parents had one of those bestowed upon them as well. But did any of those other kids get their sweet ride from hip-hop superstar Jay-Z? Didn't think so. Diggins, the former standout guard for the Fighting Irish, signed with Jay-Z's new sports representation agency, Roc Nation, after being drafted third overall by the Tulsa Shock in the WNBA draft.

Speaking at a mountain site for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that gays should feel comfortable attending the Winter Games but warned them to "leave children in peace. " Putin delivered his message during a visit with Olympic volunteers on Friday, according to R-Sport . Earlier this week, he reiterated that there will be no discrimination at the global sporting event, which begins early next month. At issue is Russian legislation that criminalizes the promotion of "nontraditional sexual relations" in the presence of minors.

Musicians - and the people who work closely with them - really know how to party. That's why Grammys night, unlike other high-end awards nights like the Oscars or Emmys, usually means one thing: unadulterated decadence. Actors hate to be seen acting rowdy, but musicians pride themselves on it. The parties started Tuesday and lasted until the wee hours Sunday. Solange Knowles and fellow alt-soul singer Lianne La havas were honored Wednesday at Essence's Fourth Annual Black Women in Music at posh West Hollywood nightspot Greystone Manor Supperclub.

Jay-Z "The Blueprint 3" (Roc Nation) Rating: 2.5 stars (out of 4) It's tough for hip-hop stars to age well. Once they become celebrities living in mansions and starring in family movies, street cred is usually the first thing to go. Just ask Ice Cube. Longevity just wasn't built into the hip-hop lifestyle, with its premium on youthful swagger, street tales and fast turnover. But Jay-Z, who turns 40 in December, asserts that he's the exception on his 11th studio album, "The Blueprint 3" (Roc Nation)

After the coffee. Before seeing if a palm tree hit my car last night. The Skinny: Driving during that windstorm Monday night was pretty scary. While the palm trees looked cool swaying in the wind, I didn't need any hitting me. Also, traffic lights were out all over my neighborhood. Tuesday's stories include Fox's threat to take its broadcast signal to cable, and the latest luxury for the rich film buff. Also a look at the effects Annette Funicello and Margaret Thatcher had on redefining women.

During the recording of "The Blueprint 3," Jay-Z's latest chart-topping full-length, the Brooklyn-born rapper gleaned something from frequent collaborator Kanye West: how to transform album tracks into arena-sized epics. In front of a sold-out Staples Center crowd Friday night and backed by a 10-piece band -- a three-member horn section, two guitarists, keyboardists and two drummers, along with backup emcee Memphis Bleek -- the lyricist born Shawn Carter proved he could deliver a similar punch in a live setting.

DJ Mustard has kept dance floors --  and strip clubs -- bouncing with tracks by Tyga, 2 Chainz, YG and Young Jeezy. Now, the L.A. based producer behind some of the biggest “ratchet” hits to dominate radio has signed a deal with Roc Nation. Earlier this year, the beatmaker, born Dijon McFarlan, landed a management deal with the entertainment company founded by Jay Z. Roc Nation will also handle the rising producer as a solo artist, the company announced Monday through Jay's Life and Times website . Hip-hop fans are well-versed with McFarlan, considering his calling card, “Mustard on the beat,” comes up quite often on his string of smashes that include Tyga's “Rack City,” 2 Chainz's “I'm Different” and Jeezy's “R.I.P.” PHOTOS: Unexpected musical collaborations In a video announcing the new deal, McFarlan said his goal as a solo act was to establish himself as hip-hop's answer to popular, touring EDM DJs and to expand outside the “ratchet” hip-hop music he's known for. “What I wanted to do was just put out an album and go tour off of my own album, and have people come see me like they go see David Guetta.
