Lee McElroy, athletic director at Cal State Sacramento, is one of the two new finalists for UC Irvine athletic director. McElroy, 43, is in his fourth year as athletic director at Sacramento and is a former associate athletic director at Houston. He played football at UCLA from 1966-69 and is the brother of Raider tackle Reggie McElroy. Irvine renewed its search last week after three previous finalists withdrew before Irvine had offered the job to anyone.

Juan Silvestre, on the seven-day disabled list because of a pulled hamstring suffered Wednesday night in the first inning against San Bernardino, is expected to miss 10-14 days.
