The seller was "ER" actress Maura Tierney, who had owned the 1913 Craftsman for nearly seven years. The two-story, 3,051-square-foot home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It has been restored and features built-in vintage cabinetry, period details and a living room fireplace.

TV and movie executive Paula Hart and her husband, Leslie Gilliams, have bought a Malibu estate for $2.6 million. The couple had been renting and were already in escrow on another house when they saw the ocean-view contemporary Mediterranean. Drawn by the high-tech and green features, including a central vacuum, solar power, tankless water heaters and well-water irrigation, they canceled the other purchase. Built in 2007, the house includes a den, media room, four bedrooms and six bathrooms in 5,000 square feet.

Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores and his wife, Holly, have sold their house in gated Mulholland Estates on the Westside for $10 million. The Mediterranean, custom built in 1992, features a family room with exposed beams, a paneled library, two bars, five fireplaces, a screening room, six bedrooms, nine bathrooms and 11,107 square feet of living space. A saltwater swimming pool with spa, a bathhouse and a gazebo also sit on the more than three-quarters of an acre of grounds. Billionaire Gores and his Beverly Hills-based private equity firm, Platinum Equity, own Palace Sports & Entertainment, which includes the Pistons.

The MJ Ranch -- M for Michael Schoff, J for Jeanne Hollingsworth -- sits on 249 bucolic acres in the Santa Ynez Valley community of Los Olivos. Despite the NBA player lockout, new Lakers head coach Mike Brown is busy setting up shop at the office and at home. Brown and his wife, Carolyn, closed a $3-million deal last month for a house in a gated Anaheim Hills community. That will be quite a drive to Staples Center and even a longer one to the Lakers offices and training center in El Segundo. Perhaps Kobe Bryant can swing by to pick him up on his way from Newport Coast. Although Brown declined to comment on the purchase, a Laker spokesman said the coach wanted his children to attend a high school near his new house, so he was willing to make the long commute.

Producer Glenn Gordon Caron and his wife, actress Tina Caron, have sold their Pacific Palisades residence for $5.69 million. The gated estate, built in 2002, is in the Palisades Riviera neighborhood. The master bedroom suite has an ocean-view balcony, an outdoor lounge and dual bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. The former retreat of silent and talking movie star Lewis Stone, who was cast with film giant Greta Garbo in a series of films, is on the market in the Valley Glen area at $1.75 million. Constructed in 1930 as the main house at his 500-acre ranch in the San Fernando Valley, the 6,500-square-foot residence features a walk-in film vault, six fireplaces, cast-iron chandeliers, six bedrooms and 31/2 bathrooms. The half-acre-plus lot includes a tiki bar, a saltwater swimming pool, a brick courtyard and fruit trees.
