Sam Jones is one of Hollywood's most acclaimed photographers. His celebrity portraits - of people such as George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Bob Dylan, Kristen Stewart - have appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and Men's Journal.   Now Jones has decided that he's not satisfied just focusing his camera on actors and musicians. He wants to find a way to memorialize what he calls one of the best (but never seen or published) parts of his job - the informal conversations between Jones and his subjects in the middle of a photo shoot.

It's sometimes more important for a documentary filmmaker to be lucky than good. Director Sam Jones turns out to be both, which is why "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" turned into an exciting and involving rock music doc, a smart and satisfying look inside that tumultuous world. Jones, a well-known still photographer and commercial director making his feature debut, was shrewd enough to pick the Chicago alternative band Wilco as the subject of his first film.

It's like owning a St. Bernard. The payoff (fame and fortune with the character, love and security with the dog) is obvious, but there are liabilities too, and they mount up. The animal is always there, inescapable, shedding and drooling and chewing the furniture, and the food bills can be outrageous.

A man angered by a quarrel with his estranged wife poured gas into a broken bedroom window of her Lennox area home and ignited a fire that sent the woman running for safety with the couple's two small daughters, authorities said. Neither the two girls, 2 and 4 years old, nor their mother was injured, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Sam Jones said. Valerie Belton, 24, told investigators that her husband, Frederick, 25, started the fire after an argument, Jones said.
