With the Galaxy S5, Samsung proves that less can be more. A year ago, Samsung tried to blow away consumers -- along with its chief rival, the Apple iPhone -- by packing seemingly every feature known to man into one device. The Galaxy S4 was a success, but consumers struggled to grasp the full capabilities of the device. To improve user experience, Samsung has gone the opposite way with the GS5. It consolidated many features into more understandable groups and eliminated other features altogether.

An uncomfortable design, a steep price and a lack of features make Samsung's Gear Fit a device users should avoid. Along with two new smartwatches, the Gear Fit is one of three wearable gadgets Samsung began selling this month. The device is designed for owners to keep track of their health and fitness while also being able to check for any notifications they receive on their Samsung smartphones. At $199, the Gear Fit is one of the priciest fitness wearable devices. For the price, the Gear Fit, unlike its rivals, comes with a heart rate sensor -- the key feature to the device.

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S5, the latest version of its flagship smartphone. The device includes a fingerprint scanner and will go on sale in April. Unlike in previous years, when Samsung announced new Galaxy S models with larger and larger screens, this year the South Korean tech giant focused its presentation on a handful of key features. Samsung said the Galaxy S5 will include a fingerprint scanner that can be used to unlock the phone and make mobile payments. If this sounds familiar, that's because Apple introduced a similar feature with the iPhone 5s when that device was announced last September.
