The spokeswoman for the Bonita Unified School District has resigned, saying she can no longer do the job because she believes officials have not disclosed information that should be available to the public. The school board had scheduled a Wednesday vote on whether to renew the contract for Barbara Ward, but she resigned on Tuesday. Ward asked that her $55-an-hour contract, which expires July 1, not be renewed.

The board president of the Bonita Unified School District has withdrawn as a candidate for reelection in November, citing fundamental differences with other board members and school officials over alleged secrecy about district actions. In a statement, Robert Olander II said he decided not to seek reelection to the school board serving La Verne and San Dimas after it became apparent things wouldn't change in a second term.
