Led by Councilman Richard Ramos' campaign to improve a park he used regularly as a child, the City Council this week unanimously approved $378,000 to refurbish Pioneer Park. The money will be used to purchase field lights and remodel restrooms and concession stands, among other things, Ramos said. The 5.2-acre park has two baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a picnic area and a roller hockey rink. "That park has not received any money in eight years," Ramos said.
