The San Marino Unified School District hopes to do something about "the sorry state that our schools are in," said Supt. Thomas Godley. The district's five schools have not been refurbished since libraries were added to some schools more than four years ago, and one board member said, "The walls are crumbling around us." To raise money for renovation, the school board this week unanimously approved placing a $34.9-million general obligations bond on the June 4 ballot.
