A judge turned down a motorist's argument that his dog should count in a car pool because the animal watched for cars and warned his master, whose eyesight is fading. Sherman Hill of San Francisco argued that Queenie was being trained as a "seeing-eye driver" and was learning to bark at the sight of cars. But San Jose Municipal Judge John Pasco said Queenie doesn't count as a rider. Vehicles with two riders may use car-pool lanes in Santa Clara County.
