The State Lands Commission has issued a permit to allow Seagamb Inc. to make a dive off the Golden Gate Bridge in an attempt to identify the location of a steamer that sank in 1901 with millions of dollars in gold ingots, opium, silk, jade and jewels on board. About $20 million in silver was also rumored to have been aboard the City of Rio de Janeiro when it sank with a loss of 121 lives. Seagamb will be allowed to make one dive in an attempt to retrieve an identifying artifact.
