The City Council has formed a committee to review council district boundaries for possible redistricting. The committee, made up of one member from each of the five districts, along with five alternates, will use the census data to come up with several recommendations for new boundaries, council members said. Appointees to the committee are: Betty Cheevers, George Brown, Gordon Shanks, Mark Soukup and Dorothy Whyte. The alternates are: Michael Goldenberg, Charles Antos and Tom Ross.

The City Council's longtime wish to exclude the crumbling Rossmoor wall from Los Alamitos' city limits may finally come true. The council on Monday is set to vote on a resolution that would transfer ownership of the wall to Rossmoor Community Services District. Officials said such a move would end a long dispute over who should pay the estimated $100,000 needed to repair the wall, which was damaged in the Landers and Northridge earthquakes.

In response to a petition filed by city officials to detach Seal Beach from any responsibility for maintenance and repair of the deteriorating wall, the Local Agency Formation Commission has requested what officials say is an unreasonable amount of information.
