Pat Gillick, who led the Toronto Blue Jays to consecutive World Series titles, was named new general manager of the Seattle Mariners on Monday, replacing Woody Woodward, who resigned Sept. 23. Mariner chairman Howard Lincoln praised Gillick as an experienced general manager, and "most important, he has a history of fielding championship teams." Gillick, 62, led the Blue Jays to titles in 1992-93.
