Cylink Corp. and RSA Data Security Inc. said they have settled a patent dispute over their competing products, which provide security for information on the Internet. The settlement calls for Cylink to give the patent rights to cryptography it developed at Stanford University to RSA Data, a unit of Security Dynamics Technologies Inc. In exchange, Redwood City-based RSA gave Cylink a license to products used to develop security software.

Security Dynamics Buys RSA Data for $200 Million: The maker of secure products for the computer industry said it will acquire the tiny but well-known RSA Data Security Inc. in a stock deal valued at $200 million. RSA is a privately held firm in Redwood City, Calif., that develops data encryption software, which is fast becoming the standard for security on the Internet. Last year RSA had profit of $950,000 on revenue of $11.

Intel Corp., the world's top computer chip maker, said it will work with a unit of Security Dynamics Technologies Inc. to develop chips that have built-in security capabilities intended to prevent fraud. The agreement also allows the unit, RSA Data Security Inc., to sell kits to software developers that are customized for Intel's planned security chips, the companies said. RSA expects to have the kits ready by the middle of the year. Officials at RSA weren't immediately available for comment.
