In a "this could only happen in Los Angeles" moment during Tuesday's Laker game against Phoenix, Will Ferrell put on a red coat and stood courtside, pretending to be a Staples Center security guard. Ferrell then went up to former Laker Shaquille O'Neal, who was watching the game from a courtside seat, and pretended to eject the 7-foot-1, 325-pound center from the arena.  It was an odd and amusing scene, especially because Ferrell and O'Neal played their roles perfectly.

Tom Brady is a real nice guy. Maybe a little too nice. His kind spirit ended up costing a couple of part-time security guards at Reliant Stadium in Houston their jobs. Joel Williams told KHOU-TV that he was about to clock out following the Texans' 34-31 loss to New England on Sunday when he ran into the Patriots' star quarterback. “I said, 'Hey Tom Brady, good job, good game man.' He looked at me and smiled,” Williams said. “He was very polite, very nice guy, humble.

The verdict caps a lengthy legal saga that began when Raymond Lee Jennings first reported finding Michelle O'Keefe's body during a routine patrol of the park-and-ride lot. Investigators found the victim, a student at Antelope Valley College, slumped in the front seat of her Ford Mustang. She had been shot four times in the chest and face.

Everyone is clamoring for greater security, yet providing security is a thankless job. Most people, even post-Sept. 11, perceive it as a nuisance if not an outright obstacle to their convenience of getting into a building or on an airplane quickly. I've spent more than 20 years involved in providing security to private facilities. The average pay rate for a security officer in Los Angeles in 1999, according to the California Bureau of Labor Statistics, was $8.75 per hour. The U.S.

Jurors at the trial of Michael Jackson's personal physician heard a 911 call Thursday that prosecutors allege was delayed by nearly half an hour by the doctor's attempts at a cover-up. "I need an ambulance as soon as possible," a Jackson security guard, Alberto Alvarez, told an emergency operator in the recording played at Dr. Conrad Murray's manslaughter trial . Alvarez, who took the stand for prosecutors Thursday, told the operator a 50-year-old man had stopped breathing.
