After the coffee. Before finding out why I'm not hosting the Emmys. The Skinny: It is never fun giving a cat medicine. Try giving your cat three different doses if you really want frustration. I'm pretty sure Skinny isn't enjoying it either. Today's roundup includes the weekend box office preview. Also, lots of debate over the FCC's proposed new Net neutrality rules, and Seth Meyers will host this year's Emmy Awards. Have a great weekend. Daily Dose: Aside from consumer groups and media watchdogs, Netflix has emerged as the most vocal opponent of Comcast's proposed acquisition of Time Warner Cable.

Seth Meyers will go from late night to prime time in August: The funnyman will host this year's Emmy Awards, NBC and the Television Academy confirmed Thursday night. TV's biggest night falls on Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. -- remember, that's a Monday! -- on NBC, and the network certainly has proved to have a pool of worthy hosts (ahem, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey). Perhaps only a slightly less obvious choice than recently installed "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon (who hosted in 2010), the selection of Meyers comes on the heels of the "Saturday Night Live" alum being named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world for 2014 -- so maybe he's been doing some influencing with his network bosses?

Look who's helping Seth Meyers make his debut on "Late Night" -- the runner-up to the commander-in-chief, Joe Biden. Biden announced that he would appear with the new host of the NBC talk show via Twitter: "Must-see TV. " The vice president, who has had his share of bloopers over the course of his career, adds a lively political touch to the debut, which will also feature Meyers' former "Saturday Night Live" castmate Amy Poehler. Perhaps Poehler will appear in Hillary Clinton guise.

NEW YORK - Making his debut as host of "Late Night" on Monday, Seth Meyers struck a decidedly low-key note in a broadcast that emphasized finely tuned punch lines over star power and razzle-dazzle. Meyers opened the NBC show by paying tribute to one of his predecessor's best-known recurring bits, "Thank You Notes. " Seated at his desk, Meyers wrote a letter to Jimmy Fallon, now host of "The Tonight Show," promising to treat "Late Night" "with respect and dignity and to only use it to do completely original comedy pieces … starting now," he said.

This "Late Night" thing might work out OK for Seth Meyers. The former "Weekend Update" newscaster on "Saturday Night Live" delivered the NBC talk show's highest ratings in nine years with his premiere on Monday. Well, technically it was Tuesday morning - 12:35 a.m. to be exact. But "Late Night With Seth Meyers" delivered a 2.6 rating/9 share in households from the top 56 markets in the nation, according to Nielsen. That compares with the 1.6 rating that "Late Night" has been averaging this season.

Seth Meyers is not cut out for morning television - just ask Kelly Ripa. In an appearance on “Late Night” Tuesday, the terminally chipper blond took a few good-natured hits at "SNL" star Meyers, who currently is serving a weeklong stint as co-host but has emphatically denied reports that he will be taking over for the recently retired Regis Philbin. Jimmy Fallon asked Ripa about who's being considered for the job, but she pleaded ignorance. "Everyone assumes I have the inside track, but I am just a hired employee," she said.

It seems "Saturday Night Live" funnyman Seth Meyers is not looking to become an early worm. The "SNL" writer and Weekend Update anchor is downplaying reports he'll assume the role of Regis Philbin on "Live!" Meyers, according to a report last week, was said to be the front-runner to sit alongside Kelly Ripa -- other names on the list included singer Josh Groban and retired football player Michael Strahan. The 38-year-old comedian is currently serving as a guest host on the morning show.

Fred Armisen hasn't been on "Saturday Night Live" for quite a while, but he seems to be everywhere else. He's just started the fourth season of the quirky IFC sketch comedy show "Portlandia," which features him and Carrie Brownstein poking subtle fun at the people and rituals of Portland, Ore. He's taken on a major gig as a bandleader, with his 8G Band, for NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers," and he's making the rounds at other events. He was even a presenter at last week's Independent Spirit Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel may not have gotten much attention the last few weeks with the late-night departure of Jay Leno, the move of Jimmy Fallon and the arrival of Seth Meyers. But he's got one advantage: the post-Oscars show on Sunday night. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" is taped right across the street from the Dolby Theatre where the Academy Awards ceremony is held and takes full advantage of all the big-name stars in the neighborhood that evening. This year's lineup will include Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Martin Scorsese, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Hemsworth, Christoph Waltz, Ben Kingsley, Mandy Patinkin, Abbie Cornish, Barkhad Abdi, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Seth Rogen, Morgan Freeman, Andy Garcia, Adam Driver, Queen Latifah, Gary Oldman and Anjelica Huston.

WASHINGTON - Joe Biden, as he himself put it Tuesday, is as likely to run for president in 2016 is he is not to. But one thing seems clear of late: He's not averse to the attention that a possible third bid for the White House brings on him. In a pair of national television appearances in a 12-hour span, the vice president alternately joked about making a "major announcement" about his plans and made a serious case as to why he deserves to move into...

No one could ever accuse Melissa McCarthy of being too egotistical when it comes to her appearances on “Saturday Night Live.” If you've seen the three-time host even once on the show, you've gotten a good idea of what her other appearances are like, as the actress tends to play variations on a few parts: the aggressive "butch" woman ; the batty middle-aged housewife ; and the borderline mentally disabled weirdo . She certainly gives...

Seth Meyers, late of "Saturday Night Live," became Monday night the fourth host of NBC's late-late-night "Late Night," after David Letterman, Conan O'Brien and his onetime cast-mate Jimmy Fallon, who has now famously become the star of "The Tonight Show. " If two examples can make a rule, the road to this desk leads through "Weekend Update," the mid-show topical segment that Meyers hosted (again, like Fallon before him), a job that, its scripted nature not entirely aside, would seem fair training for running a talk show.

Seth Meyers kicked off his run as host of "Late Night" on Monday night, and to generate a little buzz, he brought on his former "Saturday Night Live" and "Weekend Update" colleague Amy Poehler and Vice President Joe Biden. One of them announced a run for president in 2016. Poehler and Biden have a flirty history, ever since Biden guest-starred on "Parks and Recration" as the object of Leslie Knope's affections. During his "Late Night" appearance, Poehler referred to him as a "gorgeous charm monster.
